Description
This coffee comes from the village of Sonkolle Kallato in the Guji Zone of southern Ethiopia. This lot is processed naturally at one of Ture Waji’s drying stations and represents a collaboration between producers and exporters who share a commitment to traceability, quality, and community investment.
Ture Waji—founder of Sookoo Coffee—operates several sites across Guji, where his model centers on close relationships with smallholder farmers, careful lot separation, and extended drying practices. He is joined in this project by Mike Mamo of Addis Exporter. We've known Mike for over a decade through his work across the Ethiopian coffee sector, and are now excited to source from this high-altitude site for the first time.
The varieties in this lot were developed for high-altitude performance and resistance to Coffee Berry Disease, and are now widely planted across southern Ethiopia. Together, they create a cup profile that is both structured and expressive: layered notes of blackberry and mango, soft florals, and high sweetness. The finish is clean and persistent, reflecting both the altitude and the attention given at every stage of harvest and processing.
